Discriminable features are required for symbol composition

What is it about?

If you don't know Chinese, could you be able to understand a Chinese text which is explained with other Chinese words? But if you are shown, for instance, a picture together with a symbol, then you understand its meaning. Symbols cannot refer only to other symbols, but they eventually must be connected with sensory or motor experiences: this is what is called Symbol Grounding.
