Why is it important?
It is important to predict dune dynamics in coastal environments as they may pose several problems related to navigation, offshore industry, renewable energies. Also, their dynamics affects the bathymetry and the bed roughness over short time scales.
Perspectives
Results that are presented in the paper show the ability of a 2D RANS model to reproduce tidal sand dune morphodynamic evolution. More simulations should be carried out in the future to test the model against more field data.
