Fungal infections are very common in Bangladesh. This article estimates the burden of different types of fungal infection in Bangladesh.

Why is it important?

Life-threatening fungal infections are likely to rise in immunocompromised patients with diabetes mellitus, malignancy, organ and stem-cell transplantations, infections like HIV/AIDS and drugs like chemotherapeutic agents and glucocorticoids. We estimated the number of affected people from populations at risk and local epidemiological data.
