What is it about?

The paper is about electrocatalytic conversion of the model antioxidant diphenylcarbinol (DBC) by the mediator TEMPO (2,2,6,6- tetramethyl-1-piperidinyloxy). In this case the DBC is a solid crystal on the electrode surface and the product also a solid. This arrangements allows the process to be approximated as a first-order reaction which makes it possible to extract the reaction rate from a single chronoampereometric measurement. We measured and compared the reaction rate using several different TEMPO derivatives as mediators.
