What is it about?

The issue of rock strength in the field is a difficult problem. There are various opinions on this issue and we view the problem from a new angle. 以一个独特的视角来看岩石的强度,以不同于别人的思路来理解现场岩石的强度。

Why is it important?

The true rock strength in the field is not as low as 0.3 to 0.5 of lab uniaxial compressive strength, but much higher. We should not mix the apparent rock strength with the true rock strength.

Perspectives

I think the finding from this work has an implication for rock engineering design. If the true rock strength is not properly determined, how can we ensure a design is sound?
