What is it about?

In this study we designed an hydrolisis probe to amplify the soil DNA from the edible fungi Lactarius vinosus. We also used high-throughput sequencing techniques to study the fungal community composition in these soil samples. We found that choice of the drying treatment is important when we aim in quantifying the fungal mycelia, but the effects of the drying treatment to the overall fungal community composition are very low. The decrease in fungal mycelia of L. vinosus when drying at room temperature was associated to an increase in specific mould species. The role of this mould species feeding on myceliaf rom L. vinosus is discussed
