What is it about?

• Metavolcanics formations of the Bükk Mts. are defined by trace element geochemistry • New, cross-checked chemical and mineralogical analyses are provided • Bagolyhegy Metarhyolite is highly differentiated and HFSE depleted • Szentistvánhegy Metavolcanics is a heterogeneous calc-alkaline arc-type suite • Szinva Metabasalt comprises within-plate type alkaline lava flows and peperite

Why is it important?

Abundant metavolcanics represent a Middle-Late Triassic Alpine magmatic province in the Bükk Mts, separated from the Alpine-Dinaric occurrences. Due to the metasomatic and deformational overprints, only reliable tool to identify original magmatic formations and their characteristics is trace element geochemistry.
