What is it about?

There are no postoperative studies comparing two-lung ventilation and one-lung ventilation with postoperative infections or inflammation. Here, we investigated the efficacy of two-lung ventilation in patients performing VATS-e in the prone position.

Why is it important?

In this study, we demonstrated that, compared with one-lung ventilation, two-lung ventilation in the prone position provides better oxygenation and reduced inflammation in the postoperative course.

Perspectives

Two-lung ventilation might be more useful than one-lung ventilation for ventilation during esophageal cancer surgery.
