What is it about?

There are not validated symptom survey to quantify dysphagia symptoms among Latin Americans. In this study we validated the Spanish versión of the EAT-10 in Colombia in terms of its feasibility, reliability, validity, sensitivity to change, and diagnostic capacity. As a reference standard, we used the flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing with sensory testing and a standardized clinical evaluation.

Why is it important?

We found that the Spanish version of the EAT-10 has excellent psychometric properties and discriminatory capacity for use in Colombia. Our findings support the use of the spanish version of the EAT-10 as a tool to quantify the symptoms of dysphagia and to evaluate the response to interventions.
