From Open to Laparoscopic Surgery

What is it about?

Many questions regarding surgery of hydatid cysts of the liver require extensive consideration and discussion for the adoption of a single concept in the treatment of this pathology. The present experience of laparoscopic treatment of hydatid cysts of the liver in children according to the results of our multicenter study showed that the effectiveness of this treatment is comparable with that of open surgical interventions.

Why is it important?

The modern trend in pediatric surgery is expansion of the indications for minimally invasive and laparoscopic treatment. However, in children, unlike in adults, there is no unified approach to the treatment of hydatid cysts of the liver.
