Why is it important?

This study demonstrated that essential oils are effective in inhibiting the growth of the yeasts and fungicidal against the organisms. These oils are toxic to the organisms and also demonstrate significant morphological damage at low concentrations. The findings of this study are important as it shows that alternative and plant based compounds can be complementary in managing infections caused by pathogenic fungi.

Perspectives

This study adds to the body of knowledge that essential oils are fantastic antimicrobials with wide ranging potential and broad spectrum activity. Further research and funding is therefore required to promote this science and the opportunities it brings
