This paper attempts to explain the content of J. M. E. McTaggart's infamous argument for the unreality of time, popularly called 'McTaggart's Paradox'.

Why is it important?

McTaggart's Paradox is widely believed to be a self-contained and independent part of McTaggart's philosophy. This paper argues that this is wrong, and that we arrive at an unambiguous reading of the argument if we clarify the connection of the arguments to McTaggart's metaphysics.
