What is it about?

In this study, we examined the effectiveness of two self-management strategies on the on-task behavior and academic performance of elementary school students. Those strategies include self-recording and goal-setting. Our data indicated that both of the strategies were effective with some unique variations across students.

Why is it important?

Self-management is important to improve students' less supervised academic performance in schools and at home. The use of self-management is effective and efficient and, therefore, is useful for teachers and parents.

Perspectives

With some situational adjustments on the self-management strategies, teachers and parents can use those strategies for their children. They can also include those strategies in larger educational programs.
