What is it about?

The paper provides a comparison between the existing library system (OPAC) and our proposed system. By using a readily available technology (NFC) in most medium to premium cost Android based devices, the book borrowing process could be made simpler for users. This is made more cost effective as the system uses the user's Android mobile device along with low cost NFC tags and an NFC reader to capture relevant book information upon exiting the library.

Why is it important?

The paper highlights how the system could be integrated into the current library system and the overview of how the system works with the mobile device of the users. It also improves on the existing traditional process of having a librarian serving and checking each book taken out by a user.

Perspectives

This paper highlights the components that is required in implementing such a system in a library environment. Additional future works is required to test out the system in a real world environment.
