What is it about?

Swelling of two component network consisting of polyether chains and aromatic crosslinkers in toluen depends on interaction between solvent and chains, solvent and crosslinker and chains and crosslinker. The principle is valid also for the three component blends. One can enhance compatibility of two components if the third component that two components dislike is added.

Why is it important?

The principle can be used to explain degree of swelling in multicomponent systems or used to enhance compatibility of some components.

Perspectives

This article is the book chapter based on the published paper in Macromolecules- "Swelling of model networks".
