What is it about?

A reading of Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart provides significant proof that precolonial African societies did observe human rights principles. We can see this through how the novel treats the right to life, the rights of women and the right to a fair hearing.

Why is it important?

This essay is important to refute some misconceptions about the place of human rights values in traditional African societies.

Perspectives

This is one of the most interesting articles I have written yet. It made me understand myself, my culture and my society better. It will be instructive to those interested in a better understanding this aspect of the African reality. It reinforces the notion never to judge a book by its cover alone.
