It is important because during the Early Modern period the Basque Country was one of the principal shipbuilding centers, along with an important commercial hub and a iron production area. Al these activities impacted on the Basque forests and shaped them. The case of the Basque Country is important to understand how European woodland evolved and what interests and powers influenced on them and its management.
Perspectives
