What is it about?

India-Sri Lanka FTA is working well and both the partners have been benefitted from this agreement. Taking lessons from India-Sri Lanka FTA, Bangladesh can initiate similar agreement with India. This would be a win-win situation for both.

Why is it important?

The dynamic gains can be accrued to Bangladesh as well after implementing the India-Bangladesh free trade agreement, as seen in case of India-Sri Lanka FTA. This paper has attempted to highlight that potential.

Perspectives

The static and the dynamic gains of the free trade agreements are well taken in this paper. Other issues and multi-dimensional aspects of bilateral FTAs have also been considered.
