What is it about?

This is only one chapter in a book of many well-known projective techniques. To round out the list of "other" methods the author covers some of the research on specialized techniques such as the use of the face and the hands for identifying one's personality traits and needs.

Why is it important?

Research has shown that such techniques measure personality variables that cannot be measured by objective personality tests. Thus, they reveal subconscious and unconscious dimensions of the personalty which can be revealed at the conscious level.

Perspectives

An example from my own experience in working with juvenile offenders is how the Hand test can discriminate between violent and non-violent offenders, to give just one example.
