What is it about?
The work attempts to clarify prevailing assumptions and ambiguities on the definitions of development. The study establishes that there is such thing as 'epistemic colonialism" of Africa in African studies, and to have a value free epistemology on Africa's development, the scholar who must not be African to study Africa needs to display "Afritude" - an attitude but also a redemptive postulate for studying Africa in terms of Africa.

Why is it important?
The paper is important because it calls for a holistic rather than a western understanding of Africas development.
