Why is it important?
Although it is rare, the overall age-adjusted incidence of the disease worldwide is around 6–7 cases per 1 million with regional variations in consideration. MF is thought to be a disease of the elderly, as 75 % of cases are seen in the age group of 50–60 years. However, MF can be seen in patients under the age of 35 years old with similar findings and clinical course.
