What is it about?

In this paper an approach based on Heuristic Semantic Walk (HSW) is presented, where semantic proximity measures among concepts are used as heuristics in order to guide the concept chain search in the collaborative network of Wikipedia. Collaborative information and multimedia repositories over the Web represent a domain of increasing relevance, since users cooperatively add and review information.

Why is it important?

It is the first attempt to use the Heuristic Semantic Walk (HSW) model in Wikipedia with an automated algorithm search. This work introduces the advantages of the HSW in such domains and presents a new concept for deriving the context of the navigation of a user in Wikipedia.
