What is it about?
This is a comparative study of Spanish-language television (SLTV) in Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami and Madrid, based on field research conducted between 2005 and 2018. In addition to the mapping of mediascapes in these cities, I consider the ways in which migration has been referenced in televisual texts ranging from telenovelas to news reports, and I compare the reception of SLTV in these cities.

Why is it important?
My book demonstrates how humanities and social science mythologies can be productively combined, argues for the significance of diasporic Latinx audiences in shaping contemporary media, and provides an introduction to urban media studies.
