Why is it important?

Current techno-economic models in communications prioritize economic feasibility instead of both technical and economic viability of complex technical solutions. They are mainly focused on network deployment and telecom operators perspective and seldom consider end customers needs. In order to reduce the gap detected in the literature, the author has created and developed a multi perspective Universal Techno-Economic Model (UTEM) and the corresponding methodology for agile techno-economic assessment in multiple domains and industries, suitable for technological consulting and currently available for all industry stakeholders under specific license of use. Assessment in Comms is becoming a crucial need for organizations and it should be considered in the same way Assessment in Cloud adoption and migration is included in current portfolio of service providers and consulting companies. We are addressing, for instance, the transformation of a multi $billion global market only in managed network services, considering different flavours for SD-WAN adoption. And this is only an example of one domain in one industry. A specific SD-WAN Assessment Tool to industrialize the selection of the SD-WAN, SASE and/or SSE optimal solution, suitable for technological consulting and agile decision-making, is available under a license of use. Thus, organizations and society need effective and agile decision-making tools like this SD-WAN Techno-Economic Assessment Tool to choose the optimal solution.
