What is it about?
This entry provides an overview of the population known as Arab-Americans and explores their backgrounds, mentalities, cultures, religions, and origins. It emphasizes the rich variety of the Middle East region and the differences among people of Arabic heritage living in the West. The entry also examines the challenges, needs, and struggles of immigrants and refugees as well as the contributions and accomplishments of previous Arab-Americans who were already established for many generations. The place and role of values, faith, culture, and tradition are especially highlighted. Practical guidelines and suggestions for counseling, therapy, and caregiving are presented at the end along with a list of resources for future reading.
