What is it about?

We looked to see what mental health problems came with substance abuse, and how forgiveness and attachment styles played a role in addiction and the process of recovery

Why is it important?

More research has been done on men, rather than women, in treatment programs for addictions. And even fewer studies have been published on people in residential Christian programs.

Perspectives

As a researcher, I think understanding attachment styles is helpful. Are attachment styles important in the development of addictions? Can helping people move toward more secure relationships play a role in recovery? And what about one's 'attachment to God?' In a religious context, this seems like an important construct to understand.
