What is it about?

Vegetation properties were more susceptible in old growth forests than in secondary forests. But soil properties were more susceptible in secondary forests than in old growth forests.

Why is it important?

By assessing the response of tropical forests to climatic disturbances we can predict the level of damage that these systems can withstand before changing irreversibly.

Perspectives

In conclusion, it is crucial to halt or significantly reduce the transformation of tropical dry forests to maintain, at least, its most basic functions and ecosystem services under the future scenarios of climatic change.
