Vegetation properties were more susceptible in old growth forests than in secondary forests. But soil properties were more susceptible in secondary forests than in old growth forests.

By assessing the response of tropical forests to climatic disturbances we can predict the level of damage that these systems can withstand before changing irreversibly.
