What is it about?

Gadlin & Davis had a "wake up call" when conducting a workshop for mediators on gaining entry and earning trust. What is trust? Trust is a pulsating, "you know it when you feel it," kind of dynamic that doesn't stand still. "Mediators gain trust the old-fashioned way. We earn it!" was the outcome of that experience. What has changed over the years?

Why is it important?

"Trust Me!" is an unfair request. Trust is built over time. People need to trust themselves, the mediation process, the person mediating. Often, the hardest of all is to trust the other parties to the mediation. If appropriate, the mediator can make trust a topic of discussion. What ideas to the parties have to move forward.
