What is it about?

This book traces the development of the post-truth movement through 20th and 21st Century literature, film, and politics. Ultimately, this work explains how we went from a world where it was unthinkable to not believe in truth, to a world where people believe truth is relative. I argue that intersubjectivity is objectivity.

Why is it important?

This book is important because it explains the nature of contemporary American discourse and debate about truth. The work also provides a history of detective fiction and a philosophical history of truth.

Perspectives

My goal in this book was to get us out of a relativistic universe whereby truth is seen as located inside the individual mind. Additionally, I wanted to come to grips with the Trump presidency, Russia-gate, and the conspiratorial nature of American political discourse.
