What is it about?

Persistent storms and bright clouds on Neptune are tracked to determine jet stream speed and the lifecycle of the storms.

Why is it important?

Different color bands provide different information about clouds. Here, the visible and infrared bands are used simultaneously to determine the altitude of specific cloud features and storms on Neptune.

Perspectives

Simultaneous observations by two major telescopes are difficult to arrange, but the results are inevitably greater than the sum of the parts.
