What is it about?

A problem of retardation of a curvilinear crack with interfacial bonds in a stretchable plate when on crack propagation path there is a heated zone, is solved. The relations for stress intensity factors and opening of curvilinear crack faces at the edge of the zone depending on the applied load, intensity of thermal source, crack’s length, geometrical sizes of the heated zone are obtained. Dependence of the crack length on the applied stretchable load, intensity of the heated zone and also on physical and geometrical parameters of the plate at monotone loading is established.
