What is it about?

PAMG-1 test is an effective triage tool to determine likelihood of birth when used in an emergency obstetric unit. A positive PAMG-1 test it is >4 times more likely to predict a patient going into imminent preterm delivery compared to fFN.

Why is it important?

Prediction of preterm birth in patients with symptoms and signs of preterm labor could allow interventions to prevent or delay birth and to avoid or reduce adverse neonatal outcomes associated to prematurity.

Perspectives

To our knowledge, this is one of the first studies making a direct comparison (although retrospective) between the fFN and PAMG-1 test with a reasonable sample size. The data were derived from a large cohort of patients consulted in the emergency obstetric unit for PTL.
