What is it about?

This article describes two approaches for teaching undergraduate elementary education students about the value of running records as an ongoing literacy assessment. Included are detailed descriptions of how to teach the running records process, including analysis of the data and how to use that information to make instructional decisions.

We have not found many practitioner-focused resources for teacher educators. This article provides examples of 'how you could teach this' for methods instructors of teacher candidates.

Perspectives

Teaching future teachers how to teach is an exciting, ongoing challenge. Perhaps this piece will inspire other teacher educators to share their effective practices.
