What is it about?
Textile products are required by humans since life started on this planet. Colorful textiles look pleasant to everyone, but it costs serious damage to the environment. The wet dyeing process is inefficient and results in the adsorption of only 50-60% of dyes on cloth and the remaining flow into the wastewater. These dyes are mostly synthetic and very stable under aerobic biological wastewater treatment conditions. So, this study explains an effective anaerobic treatment method clubbed with forward osmosis to degrade the dyes and save the environment from hazardous chemical discharge into receiving water bodies.

Why is it important?
Our study promotes the hybridization of different technologies for hazardous wastewater treatment. We clubbed anaerobic biological treatment with forward osmosis (FO) to achieve high dye removal efficiency, mainly caused by their longer retention in the biological tank due to the higher rejection efficiency of the FO process.
Perspectives
This paper looks very niche but actually, it helps in the areas of i) abatement of hazardous substances discharge, ii) improvement of living beings' health in downstream water users community. This paper also triggers several research areas for the scientific community and researchers.
