What is it about?
Simulations systems should take advantage of new software architectures such as cloud computing and service oriented architectures. The paper propose how the specialized distributed simulation architectures High Level Architecture (HLA) can be integrated into a service oriented environment resulting in a hybrid architecture framework for simulations.

Why is it important?
It is paramount to define the next generation distributed simulation architectures that take advantage on the new software architectures, so that simulation applications can blend seamlessly with other software applications.
Perspectives
I hope that this article provide substational guidance on how the concept of Modelling and Simulation as a Service (MSaaS) can be implemented.
