This book, written by Donald and Veronica de Raadt, celebrates the Tenth Annual Congress of the Brazilian Systems Chapter of the International Society for the Systems Sciences. It also celebrates the work of systems colleagues led byProfessor Dante Pinheiro Martinelli. Why is it important?

The review explores critically and throughly each chapter of the book and can give a broad and nice overview of what can be found in the reading. Besides pointing the main issues addressed, I also include my perceptions on the writing, which can help the reader where to go, if he is looking for something specific, or why reading the whole book.

Perspectives

It was a great opportunity to know better the authors as well as their approach to the Multi-Modal Systems Theory. Even though we disagree at some points, the theory is obviously very well described and applied in the book. The review is a good way of short-reading the book and can be used as a tool and a guide through the book.
