This article is a series of two cases that demonstrate the appearance of an inflamed appendiceal stump after the appendix has been removed.

Why is it important?

This can happen weeks to years after surgery and is not a very well understood or appreciated condition that sonographers should know about when examining patients with pain in the right lower quadrant after their appendix may have been removed.
