What is it about?

This paper provides a critical look at the entrepreneurial finance literature. The paper documents an unfortunate segmentation between different groups of people that study entrepreneurial finance, and some of the negative consequences of this segmentation.

Why is it important?

The authors provide empirical evidence from Google Scholar citation data on the trends in entrepreneurial finance work. They also discuss new research opportunities in entrepreneurial finance.

Perspectives

On the "problems" side of the literature, it took some guts to speak freely about some unfortunate developments in the literature in recent years. It is important to recognize these problems so that they do not negatively affect others (including academic, practitioners, and policymakers) in the future. There is ample scope to improve and grow the field in varuous ways as discussed in the paper.
