What is it about?
We reported the derivation of the control chart limits for monitoring the process mean using the Downton’s estimator and also provided table of constant factors for computing the control limits for sample size n≤10.

Why is it important?
Our findings show that the control chart using Downton’s statistic performed better than traditional Shewhart X ̅ chart using the range statistic for detection of small shift in process mean when the process is non-normal
