What is it about?
The nontraditional Coriolis terms turn upward motion westward and turn westward motion downward. Omitting the nontraditional Coriolis terms directly yields a westerly wind bias in the heating region that is about 10% of the westerly jet stream.

Why is it important?
Computer models simulating atmospheric motion are important in weather and climate prediction, but most of the current models omit the nontraditional Coriolis terms. This study promotes restoring the nontraditional Coriolis terms to improve weather and climate prediction.
