What is it about?
This study uses the KASCADE field campaign to unravel the characteristics of down-valley flows in valleys of different scales in the Durance river catchment (southeastern France). It examines characteristics in two valleys; the fairly large Durance valley, and one of its tributaries, the Cadarache valley.

Why is it important?
Characterizing down-valley flows in stably stratified conditions is important for impact assessment of local and regional dispersion studies.
Perspectives
This study can be used for meteorological mesoscale modeling studies, as well as model-based dispersion studies.
