What is it about?

Effect of Hypericum perforatum (St.-John's Wort) extract on the withdrawal syndrome of caffeine-addicted mice. Possible mechanism has also been evaluated by an appropriate experimental approach. Involvement of nitric oxide has been found out by using pharmacological antagonists.

Withdrawal symtoms may be troblesome for caffeine-addicted individuals. The findings obtained in the present study may have clinical relevance as St.-John's Wort is a commonly used OTC product.

More clinical studies are necessary for the future perspective.
