What is it about?
The aim of this study was to perform a review of the literature on the important role of fluoxetine in anti-inflammatory, cell survival, and neuron trophicity mechanisms (antiapoptotic properties) as well as its role regarding enzymes of the antioxidant defense system.

Why is it important?
This study reports the important anti-inflammatory, antiapoptotic, and antioxidant functions of fluoxetine and suggests that the clinical benefits of its administration are related to the cell-modulating functions in the central and peripheral nervous systems.
Perspectives
I was very pleased to write this article because I could see several important functions of Fluxoxetine in relation to inflammatory processes, cellular apoptosis and antioxidant activity. I believe that many other studies need to be performed to assess all the beneficial functions as well as the harmonics of using fluoxetine.
