What is it about?
An opaque hollow polymer pigment was synthesized using methyl methacrylate , methacrylic acid, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate, and styrene. It is colored by adding copper phthalocyanine in the synthesis step. The addition of 2% copper phthalocyanine yielded a green-blue color but 3% yielded blue color.

Why is it important?
This pigment may be added into coating materials or plastics to color the substrate. It can reduce the cost of using other pigments; it is much more compatible with the coating resins due to its surface chemistry and low density compared to inorganic fillers and pigments.
