What is it about?

In this study, CNFs, as bio-reinforcement, were first isolated from bagasse using an optimized sulfur-free treatment in various chemo-mechanical stages. Furthermore, an industrial-scale procedure was used in order to prepare CNF filled masterbatches. For this purpose, to reduce chemicals used in melting process, masterbatches were prepared by mixing CNF and rPLA in acetone before melt-compounding. Results confirmed the versatility of method proposed.

Why is it important?

Developing nanocellulose-based masterbatches not only is an industrial-scale approach to preparing biocomposites, but also this results in improving the overall properties of biofilms.
