What is it about?

The main aim of the present research is to demonstrate that an epoxy-multiwalled carbon nanotubes composite can be used as a modified matrix of fibrous isogrid composite structures with greatly improved mechanical properties. In this work, E-glass reinforced epoxy nanocomposites with various multiwalled carbon nanotubes wt.% were fabricated and the effects of multiwalled carbon nanotubes addition on three point flexural properties of the produced specimens was investigated.

Why is it important?

Overall this study demonstrates that silane coupling agent (3-GPTS)/multiwalled carbon nanotubes dispersed within the matrix can significantly enhance the flexural properties of fibrous grid-stiffened composite structures.
