What is it about?
The assessment of severe liver toxicity, called venoocclusive disease (VOD), in 35 patient treated for Wilms rumour revealed a 14% of incidence. Apart from classical clinical and biochemical abnormalities associated with this complication, we found that a coagulation marker, PAI-1, is reliable for the diagnosis of VOD

This is the first time that the role of PAI-1 is described in VOD associated with treatment for Wilms Tumor.
Perspectives
PAI-1 is useful to confirm the diagnosis of VOD and to differentiate from other cuses of liver toxicity
