What is it about?
We studied the Phoenician human bones coming from the necropolis at Motya in ordet to clarify the mortuaty pactices in the Island and understand the life style in this colony.

Why is it important?
Clarify the complex and the not well-Konow Phoencinan mortuary ritual and it's changes during the century showing the importance of an anthropological approach in the study of ancient cemeteries, as well as the valid support rendered by biological data in the archaeological interpretation of funerary rituals. Moreover bones pathology and bones markers show health conditions and life style ot settlers in a small colony.
Perspectives
Combine anthropological and archaelogical in order to investigate mortuary practices, understand the Phoencian ritual and reconstuct the the life-style in the Isalnd throught defiency pathology and occupational markers.
