What is it about?
Caring for a sick child with the physical demand such as staying with child on admission, which affects personal work, traveling distances for therapy for years, managing side effects of therapy and the financing therapy and other care needs amidst meager income places enormous burden on parents and primary caregivers. This affects their well-being.

Why is it important?
family caregiving is an obligation as family members feel responsible for each other. That notwithstanding, parents are responsible for caring and nurturing their children till they are at a stage where they can assume responsibility for self. Providing all needs for children is financially demanding then adding medical expenses. Cancer care is expensive and covers a long period of time which drains savings of the family and the demand for physical presence with the child affects work and other social responsibilities.
Perspectives
Writing this article has broadened my understanding of the challenges family caregivers go through on daily basis along the cancer trajectory. It helped me to appreciate this side of life and moved me to solicit for financial support for some parents.
