What is it about?
A novel coupled meso/micro technique for solving fluid-solid coupling issues in geomechanics, such as hydraulic fracture, fluid flow in fractured rock, liquefaction and granular filter design in dams.

Why is it important?
This meso/micro method can gain a deeper insight into the coupling systems involving the fluid-solid interaction. The calculation of hydrodynamic forces is direct and no empirical parameters, which are used in conventional methods, are needed.
Perspectives
This coupled technique is more suitable for the investigation of mechanism of fluid-solid coupling at the grain and pore level. Parallelism of this coupled approach is natural and straightforward.
